Acoustic Guitar
My primary instrument is a Taylor 810, but also play a beautiful Guild both are
late 70's models, so the rosewood is well seasoned. They resonate with
such depth that it easily takes me into a contemplative mode.
Woodwinds:
Flute, Irish Whistle, Recorder
The flute came in the early 70's when band was first offered at school. I
like every other kid wanted to play the drums but the few slots that were
opened went to the boys... grr... The exception of course being my
musical partner Marion, who is just amazing on percussion. She started
playing at age 5 (but I digress). To be honest, flute was the last
thing on my list of band instruments I wanted to play (It was more my
mothers dream). But I did learn a bit about music, so
all is well. Irish Whistle is rather a fun little instrument
I've come to enjoy fairly recently. It found its way onto the "Notes
to Bethlehem" CD.
Other Strings
Mandolin, Mandola, Boozooki, Banjo, Dulcimer both Appalachian style and
hammer have all passed through my hands. I am fascinated by the
unique sounds of instruments and have been graced with the opportunity to experience
many.
A special thanks in memory of a dear teacher Donald McCann, who allowed
me to play all the instruments the middle school owned. His
generosity is well remembered.
